Utter visual power is in store for you at the fourth annual celebration of lights, music and ideas. Vivid Sydney Festival 2012 is back, with over 100 creative industry events and over 60 light installations that stretch the eloquent canvass of one of the worldʼs most radiant cities.
It all began with the “Lighting of the Sails” and the lighting of the iconic Sydney Opera House, where acclaimed German designers URBANSCREEN lit a piece of civilization – current and historic – to expose its colorful reality. That was just the start. From 25 May to 11 June, the Vivid Festival is a two week celebration.
Artists from France, Poland, Scotland, Hong Kong, USA, Brazil, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia bring dynamic displays of low-energy light art to an audience of over 500,000. Local and international musicians perform at Vivid LIVE at Sydney Opera House. Vivid Ideas Exchange at the MCA features public talks and debates from leading global creative thinkers. Projections across the city skyline highlight the original inhabitants of the Sydney basin by expressing visual images of the six seasons of the Indigenous calendar.
