On the slope of Mount Pangrango, we can find a small tranquil lake, Situ Gunung lake is located in national park, 16 km north of Sukabumi, around 135 km from Jakarta. According to local legend in Sukabumi, Situ Gunung not a natural lake, it is a man made lake. As the story goes, in 1800s, the lake was made by a noble of Mataram kingdom Mbah Jalun or Rangga Jagad Syahadana. Mbah Jalun was very happy when his wife gave him a son.
